Tom & Rena

Posted on August 6, 2014

Being a wedding photographer is special, and I’ll tell you why. I have the opportunity to participate in a very important day for two people who have found each other. I think I am starting to have an idea myself of what that means, but since I’m not married, I suppose I will truly understand it when I’m there. What I can tell you is that when I see it –  this admiration, respect, and love that my couples have for one another… it makes me appreciate the work I do. It makes me happy that Tom & Rena are so right for each other, and that I get to have a glimpse into who they really are. Each time I photograph…

Summer Sneak Peeks!

Posted on August 5, 2014

Lordy Lordy! It’s been a busy summer. Along with 984698749824 other photos I’d still like to blog, I forgot to post some great sneak peeks of some of the weddings I’ve had the pleasure of shooting recently. With hopes to tell the full story for each of these lovely couples, here are some wonderful moments from June, July & August so far in the land of wedding photography.     Kara & Nick – June 21st, 2014 : A romantic, beautiful day with some long time friends on a gorgeous summer solstice. Patricia & Matt – July 19th, 2014 : All smiles for each other all day long… these two. 🙂    Andressa & Matt – July 26th, 2014 : I got to shoot…

Megan & Alex

Megan & Alex might be one of the most smiley, natural, laid back couples I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with. Take a look, and tell me that joy and happiness isn’t written all over this amazing day. They had so many special, personalized details that contributed to the combination of Irish Catholic and Chinese wedding celebrations. We met up for their first look at Washington Square Park, where Megan stopped a little girl in her tracks (or on her scooter) to come over and gush at what I’m sure she thought was a real live princess. She couldn’t help but reach out for a hug from such a pretty lady. 🙂 One of my favorite parts of the day, was that Megan & Alex decided to walk down the aisle together. Best friends, and already 10 years partners in life- they were going to take this next step and long walk down the aisle of Saint Rita of Casia Shrine Chapel hand in hand as they approached the beautiful alter. It was perfect. We then ventured to FDR Park, and then onto a very South Philly celebration at Growlers Pub. Tecate’s in hand they they danced in the street, seeing neighbors and friends who happened to be passing by. It was wonderful day, all very close to home for this couple who I am so happy to call my friends.

Kristianna & Brendan – Wedding Sneak Peek!

Posted on June 10, 2014

Adventure follows these two travelers wherever they go… so naturally, we found ourselves biking, running barefoot on the beach, and finding hidden gems all over the place on Long Beach Island this past weekend. Kristianna & Brendan are so much fun, and beautiful people inside and out! This was the second time I had the opportunity to shoot a wedding for this incredible family, and I couldn’t have been happier. Here’s a little sneak peek from their fantastic wedding day.

Ben & Marie

To find the one that compliments you, that loves what you love, that wants to walk alongside you in life. And climb rocks.
Ben & Marie are an incredibly active couple. Besides climbing, they are bikers, runners and avid and amazing ultimate frisbee champions. Capturing the essence of my couples is always my goal, but it gets tricky sometimes…although I’m always willing to go to great lengths to do it.  We actually hadn’t solidified all the plans, but when they both got out their climbing shoes at the base of the trail to Forbidden Drive in the Wissahickon woods in Philadelphia, I knew we were off to a good start. Ben & Marie are both from Philadelphia area, so shooting in a place that they love and have spent time rolling over the trail or bouldering the rocks was a great choice, not to mention absolutely beautiful.
These two are such a great match, and I’m so excited to be shooting their wedding in two weeks at the Academy of Natural Sciences in Philadelphia. It’s only fitting that people who love to climb rocks would want to throw a big party with the dinosaurs.

My story.

Posted on November 26, 2012

Hello hello!
Welcome to my blog! This is where I’ll begin to finally share the stories about the images I create, so my first post will share my story.
Becoming a wedding and portrait photographer happened very naturally. As photography kept presenting itself in my life, it lead me on a journey to learn more about myself, and over the years I began to embrace the role it would play. Ten years ago, I spent a summer photographing families and children on the beaches of Ocean City, Maryland. With the sunshine on my side and some extra enthusiasm, I learned that my best qualities came out when I was photographing people. It was those moments with new families and friends that I felt most fulfilled.
When I moved to England, and traveled through Europe for the first time, I had the opportunity to connect with even more amazing people. This opened up my world. A couple years later I was again pulled toward a new cultural experience when I decided to volunteer in South America. I worked with an incredible program called Fairmail, teaching photography to under-privileged teenagers in Peru. What I wanted to impart to these teenagers was that they focus on how to approach people and how to connect with them…my ingredients to success.
I’m told that my energy and enthusiasm for my work makes my clients feel good about our time together, which ends up creating really great images. This makes me so happy, and I’m the first one to express that joy when I glance at the back of my camera. It is my passion as a photographer to uncover the beauty of real people and raw, true moments. Sometimes, these moments are seen by all, and sometimes they are in small and intimate settings. I care about people, and enjoy celebrating who they are and who they will become. I’m always excited to have the opportunity to tell a new story.
I’ll end this message with one of my favorite quotes from a great yoga teacher that has really hit home for me this year. ‘You are engineered and designed perfectly for your unique mission in life. You have been given just the right set of skills, placed into the proper circumstance, and graced with the appropriate challenges needed, for you to learn the lessons that will help you to succeed. When you are living with purpose, life burns that much brighter.’
Thanks for reading!
Let the storytelling begin.
