Kristen & Christian 20

Once upon a time I lived with two sisters…in a house beside a house with two sisters in the center of a city. We broke down the rickety old wall between the back patios (literally) and thus began a super fun time of some single ladies on an adorable little block called Mole Street. That’s where it all began. At least for me and Kristen. She moved to Philly (I think largely upon my suggestion, or at least I’d like to think so) when deciding where to go to grad school. Her sister Kara and I were room mates in college, and when the house next door to mine happen to come up for rent, I called upon the Howland sisters to make a move – and I’m so glad they did!!
Kristen & Christian’s romance began sometime in that era…the Mole Street era as I’ll call it. Christian was just about to embark on an epic entrepreneurial journey to China, but their connection was strong, and upon his return, these two were the newest new couple on the block. To say that Kristen and Christian are adventurous would be an understatement in describing their lust for life. They do more traveling than most people I know – and so it was only fitting that Christian finally popped the question in Paris, France earlier this year. These two are the team to beat every time at yard games, the king and queen of weekend trips, staying active and working to live rather than living to work.
So although I wanted them to go climb a mountain or jet ski on a lake, or take me with them to another country to photograph their engagement session, we went to the beach, which is pretty much the next best thing. The light was stunning that evening…ah the light, the pretty pretty early evening light with a sunset to knock your socks off. It’s great to see your friends that you’ve known forever fall into place when it’s their turn for wedding photography fun. And although there was some prompting which may have resulted in some face-licking, or ear-smelling…I think the end result here is pretty awesome.  🙂

Matt & Andressa – Destination Wedding in Brazil

Posted on May 29, 2015

I am so excited to finally share the story of two of my favorite people in the world, Andressa & Matt. Happiness and love follow them wherever they go, which is why I was thrilled when they asked me to capture their wedding story. Celebrating in Brazil was so special, with the most loving collection of incredible people. The week-long festivities began in Curitiba, where Andressa went to school, and the veiw from their 14th floor apartment set a beautiful scene of this delightful city. The festivities continued as a small group of family and friends traveled by ferry to a remote island off the coast, called Isla de Miel – ‘Honey Island’. After two days exploring, hiking and swimming, I now know why…

Kristianna & Brendan

Posted on September 16, 2014

Talk about a fun couple! Take a look. It all took place in Long Beach Island, NJ where Kristianna & Brendan met many summers ago and fell in love. LBI has a special place in my heart since it’s not only one of my favorite beach towns, but it’s where I shot my first wedding, and fell completely in love with wedding photography. Kristianna & Brendan’s day brought back fond memories of being barefoot on the beach, and running after a joyful couple riding bikes in the sun. Ahhhhhhh, my type of day! I met Kristianna after photographing her sister, Kourtney’s wedding back in 2010. Their family was so lovely to work with, and I had been looking forward to our reunion!! I love…

My story.

Hello hello!
Welcome to my blog! This is where I’ll begin to finally share the stories about the images I create, so my first post will share my story.
Becoming a wedding and portrait photographer happened very naturally. As photography kept presenting itself in my life, it lead me on a journey to learn more about myself, and over the years I began to embrace the role it would play. Ten years ago, I spent a summer photographing families and children on the beaches of Ocean City, Maryland. With the sunshine on my side and some extra enthusiasm, I learned that my best qualities came out when I was photographing people. It was those moments with new families and friends that I felt most fulfilled.
When I moved to England, and traveled through Europe for the first time, I had the opportunity to connect with even more amazing people. This opened up my world. A couple years later I was again pulled toward a new cultural experience when I decided to volunteer in South America. I worked with an incredible program called Fairmail, teaching photography to under-privileged teenagers in Peru. What I wanted to impart to these teenagers was that they focus on how to approach people and how to connect with them…my ingredients to success.
I’m told that my energy and enthusiasm for my work makes my clients feel good about our time together, which ends up creating really great images. This makes me so happy, and I’m the first one to express that joy when I glance at the back of my camera. It is my passion as a photographer to uncover the beauty of real people and raw, true moments. Sometimes, these moments are seen by all, and sometimes they are in small and intimate settings. I care about people, and enjoy celebrating who they are and who they will become. I’m always excited to have the opportunity to tell a new story.
I’ll end this message with one of my favorite quotes from a great yoga teacher that has really hit home for me this year. ‘You are engineered and designed perfectly for your unique mission in life. You have been given just the right set of skills, placed into the proper circumstance, and graced with the appropriate challenges needed, for you to learn the lessons that will help you to succeed. When you are living with purpose, life burns that much brighter.’
Thanks for reading!
Let the storytelling begin.
