Tom & Erin’s Proposal!

Posted on February 2, 2020

Tom & Erin are engaged! And OMG, this was one for the books! Tom found me through doing a search for proposal photographers in Philadelphia – since I guess I’ve done this a few times…what can I say, I like hiding in the bushes and being a photo love ninja. 🙂
It was all planned out – we even met 2 days before to do a little walk-through on picture-perfect Addison Street of what would happen, what trees he’d stop at to kneel down…the whole thing. He managed to plan everything without Erin knowing, which was a feat because this girl is on it! Erin has an incredibly awesome and popular food blog and instagram called https://www.erinliveswhole.com/. Tom, in turn, has a parody account called “Tom lives full.”
Erin and Tom met at Penn State University through a childhood best friend while in college. Three years later they reunited when Tom invited Erin to an ugly sweater party in Philly of December 2015…hoping on a whim to catch up as a group with some mutual friends. They hit it off that night, and haven’t gone a day without talking since! They were official by the next month and have been together for exactly 4 years before proposing 3 days after their 4 year anniversary and one day after her birthday! She had NO idea it was coming, which was the best feeling ever for both of them! Tom, you really such an amazing job!
Erin was so expressive, so surprised and so adorable in every way. Tom organized both families to be there soon after, and even threw an after party only blocks away at Lou Birds where the rest of the family and friends were waiting! Erin and Tom, it was an absolute joy to be part of this amazing moment for you both. The whole thing was just full of happiness and joy. So so happy for you both!!!

Mollie & Peter – Ben Franklin Bridge, Race Street Pier & Power Plant Productions

Posted on August 30, 2017

Beautiful New York City couple gets married in Philadelphia….has a nice ring to it! I can’t help the love I have for my city, so I was pretty pumped to show it off with Mollie and Peter on a beautiful summer day in a most epic location. From Mollie getting ready at the gorgeous Kimpton Hotel Monaco, to Peter and his guys living large at their own bright loft for day of preparations, to the sweeping views of the Ben Franklin Bridge on the Race Street Pier… this day was incredible. We ventured around Old City and the Delaware waterfront, past fences and through fields to get some patriotic summer lovin’ looks. I had always wanted to photograph the American Flag mural that is displayed an abandoned warehouse on Colombus Blvd., but because it’s large size, it was hard to figure out how to get the right perspective. On my location scouting bike ride the week before, I found it – an unassuming whispy, field of tall grasses next to a storage garage parking lot. A bit unconventional to say the least, but Mollie and Peter didn’t even flinch when I told them my plan. She picked up her dressed and march straight into unknown territory with me, and the results were amazing!

The energy continued into the night and into the dance floor, with some of the best dabbin’, dancing, and all around throw downs to date at the Power Plant Productions. Lots of love and fun in this family. I had a blast working with Mollie and Peter, and hope you enjoy a little glimpse of their lovely day.

Rebecca & Warren – Pennsylvania Museum of Anthropology

Posted on May 30, 2017

I’m in the mood to spread a little love today. Reflecting on just over a year ago when I had the very awesome privilege of shooting Rebecca & Warren’s wedding at the University of Pennsylvania’s – Museum of Anthropology in Philadelphia. This wedding was nothing short of epic moments throughout the entire day. These two are both such beautiful people, inside and out. I loved their classic and stunning attire. I loved their expressive and amazing friends and family, who are all clearly the most perfect reflection of them. I loved their heartfelt and absolutely jaw dropping beautiful vows, reaching deep into each others’ raw hearts for all of us to hear and see. Their wedding day was the same day as the Kentucky Derby…and…

Charlotte & Brian’s Wedding at the Philadelphia Racquet Club

Charlotte & Brian gave me so many amazing opportunities to take unique and beautiful photos every time we were together. From their engagement shoot in Hickory Run State Park, to an amazing day at the Philadelphia Racquet Club and a stroll down to Rittenhouse Square , to their sweet and emotional vows,  photography has always been really important to them, and of course, that makes my heart sing! It was a beautiful day, and they were just so so so so so so happy. I’ve never seen a dress move like Charlotte’s – it flowed through the air like a dream, so dancing throughout the day served the purpose of amazing photos and practicing their epic first dance. But I think my favorite dance of all them was the one they did at the end of the night on Broad Street! Holy amazing you guys!
Charlotte and Brian, thank you so much for inviting me to be part of your story.

Megan & Brenden’s Philadelphia wedding on the Moshulu

Posted on October 23, 2015

I’M ON A BOAT!
Megan & Brenden’s gorgeous wedding day was jam packed with non-stop adventuring with one of the most off-the-hook parties I have ever photographed. I had an incredible team with me that day (thanks Annie & Dan!), but even with three photographers, we were put to the challenge to cover all the energy and happenings going on. I was literally hanging from the rafters swinging out into the crowd to capture the insane energy as the dance party roared on. It was a beautiful day, and Brenden picked Megan up about 84749585 times out of sheer joy and excitement. Also, when you are a rugby player that can easily pick up your girl with ease, I will likely encourage that as much as possible. 🙂
Megan & Brenden exchanged vows at Philadelphia’s historic Old St. Joseph’s church, and then after adventuring all over Queen Village and Spruce Harbor Park (with a quick game of skee ball!) we headed to their epic, legendary landmark party spot. ‘The Moshulu is the world’s oldest and largest square rigged sailing vessel still afloat. She is in fact the one and only restaurant venue on a Tall Ship today in the World.” You can read more about the history of the Moshulu here: http://www.moshulu.com/history.html. I should also mention the Moshulu is also comes with some of the nicest staff most impressive offering of delicious food and drinks I’ve seen in a long time. The sun sparkled off the water and streamed onto the deck as the dances and toast began…and it was pretty much magic.
As the party rolled on, so too were some special on site hand-rolled Cortez cigars… a present from Megan to Brenden, it was a special touch to the top deck goers who were taking a break from the non-stop dance party below by their fantastic band, Chico’s Vibe. It gave us a chance to grab some special sunset/evening shots, and a sweet moment setting off a special lantern into the sky for Megan’s Mom. Guests were offered Philadelphia water ice and soft pretzels for late night snacks as they grabbed a sparkler to see off this couple off style. It was quite the wedding folks. I needed to sleep for about 4 days after this one. But it was incredible, and I personally consider the awesome team of planners at Eastern Shore Events and my amazing photo team top dog rock stars for the non-stop party ship we sailed into the night. Check out it for yourself!

Lydia & Tushar

Lydia&Tushar.Sneakpeek
Lydia & Tushar rocked their wedding in style. It was colorful, cultural, warm and inviting, fashionable & fun. These are all the words that come to mind when I think back on their awesome day in Philly.  And although I wish I could have been at their wedding in India as well… I was pretty excited to rock the American celebration by taking them to some EPIC Philly spots. Can you guess where the one above was? It was one of those magical moments when everything just worked out and we got that mural all to ourselves after exploring some familiar tiny streets, and gorgeous museum grounds. Just another day in awesome wedding world land. 🙂

Ann Marie & Jon

Posted on July 24, 2015

When I first met Ann Marie & Jon, their joint wedding email came over as JAM…and when I met them… they explained the acronym that their friends lovingly address them by. I loved it too, and it was hard not to start every email with, “What’s up JAM!?” I also found out they have really good taste in music, have two big awesome dogs, like to run marathons, and take dance lessons.  I knew I was going to have fun with them.   So on a beautiful spring day at the College of Physicians in the middle of Philadelphia these two tied the knot. And there was lots of big smiling. And happy people. And kids in strollers awesomely photo bombing. And crazy…

Kristen & Christian

Kristen & Christian 20

Once upon a time I lived with two sisters…in a house beside a house with two sisters in the center of a city. We broke down the rickety old wall between the back patios (literally) and thus began a super fun time of some single ladies on an adorable little block called Mole Street. That’s where it all began. At least for me and Kristen. She moved to Philly (I think largely upon my suggestion, or at least I’d like to think so) when deciding where to go to grad school. Her sister Kara and I were room mates in college, and when the house next door to mine happen to come up for rent, I called upon the Howland sisters to make a move – and I’m so glad they did!!
Kristen & Christian’s romance began sometime in that era…the Mole Street era as I’ll call it. Christian was just about to embark on an epic entrepreneurial journey to China, but their connection was strong, and upon his return, these two were the newest new couple on the block. To say that Kristen and Christian are adventurous would be an understatement in describing their lust for life. They do more traveling than most people I know – and so it was only fitting that Christian finally popped the question in Paris, France earlier this year. These two are the team to beat every time at yard games, the king and queen of weekend trips, staying active and working to live rather than living to work.
So although I wanted them to go climb a mountain or jet ski on a lake, or take me with them to another country to photograph their engagement session, we went to the beach, which is pretty much the next best thing. The light was stunning that evening…ah the light, the pretty pretty early evening light with a sunset to knock your socks off. It’s great to see your friends that you’ve known forever fall into place when it’s their turn for wedding photography fun. And although there was some prompting which may have resulted in some face-licking, or ear-smelling…I think the end result here is pretty awesome.  🙂

A Christmas Proposal – Ryan & Meghan

Posted on January 2, 2015

My heart was beating so fast as I kept looking toward the South entrance to city hall. With two huge lenses hanging from my side, I clearly had a purpose, but somehow kept getting in the way of all the folks trying to take their yearly selfies and portraits in front of the Christmas Tree. Another text……they were parked and now walking! I had my perfect shot all set-up, but a large group of tourists happen to step into my composition as Ryan and Meghan stepped through the South entrance to City Hall. They were SO cute. I suggested he take some deep breaths, chat a little while I move around upon their arrival. Ryan told me he had asked Meghan’s parents for permission…

Amber & Bart

Amber & Bart’s wedding was an amazing, inspirational day in the land of wedding photography. Just look at those faces. JOY I TELL YOU! That’s what it’s all about. The weather, the details, the friends, the family, the food, the venue, the band, and everything that they picked out was so incredible. Not to mention the fun, gorgeous couple that made it all happen. Their wedding day was filled with love, joy, sunshine, happiness, dancing and COLOR! So colorful! From Amber’s fuchsia orchid and orange lily bouquet, to the amazing up lighting at the Kimmel Center, to the lush green streets and urban murals that became our backdrop in this beautiful city. We shot their first look on the roof of the Double Tree Hotel, directly across from where they would later exchange vows and throw down a ridiculously awesome party.
They gave me full creative freedom in the hour 1/2 we had set aside for portraits to take them on walking route through Philadelphia that was sprinkled with some lovely little spaces of light and color that I was hoping we’d get to shoot in. Everything worked out wonderfully, and we ended the portrait session at a mural I had picked out for the Bridal Party Photos, which is probably one of my favorite bridal party shots ever. After a heart-felt exchange of vows and first kiss at the Epic Kimmel Center, Bart shattered the glass ceiling of awesome when he broke into the classic Italian love song ” That’s Amore.” He had mentioned to me that he was going to sing to Amber, so I would know to look out for it…. although I had no idea what to expect. Right on cue, he looked at Amber, then looked at the crowd, opened up his 6 foot 4 inch wingspan, and belted out, “When the moon hits your eye, like a big pizza pie, that’s amoreeeeee. ” Ohhhh my Lord – it was AMAZING! Amber’s expression is priceless, and EVERYONE began singing along, beaming ear to ear with happiness and song. Now that’s a way to throw a wedding! The party rocked all night with an impressive performance from their band, Brian Kirk & the Jirks. <—- Amazing. Amber & Bart wanted to make sure we captured the grandness of the Kimmel Center, and I think when we stepped out at the end of the night to get a couple portraits, we did just that. 🙂
Enjoy!!
